U Street and 14th Street Run DC's Nightlife
U Street NW is DC's historic Black music corridor — Ben's Chili Bowl anchors the block, 9:30 Club (on V just off U) is the national touring indie/rock room, Black Cat a block away books punk and alt. El Techo and Service Bar round out the drinking.
14th Street has become the cocktail-bar corridor — Columbia Room, The Gibson, Showtime Lounge run the serious programs. H Street NE is the newer third corridor with a tight cluster of dive bars and live music at Rock & Roll Hotel.
DC's last call runs until 3 AM on weekends (2 AM weekdays) — later than most cities nearby. Metro closes at midnight or 1 AM; plan the ride home.
